The $300,000 total is being granted to the Dearborn County Redevelopment Commission to purchase approximately 40 acres of property owned by the Hirlinger family in West Harrison along Harrison-Brookville Road.
“We will go ahead and begin the negotiations to purchase this property,” said Mike Rozow, a redevelopment commission member and president of the Dearborn County Chamber of Commerce.
Rozow said a transportation-oriented business has already shown interest in the property so far.
Sewer and other infrastructure is still needed, but Rozow said the property will be very marketable because of its nearby access to Interstate 74 and proximity to Ohio.
“This is a big deal. It’s a big move for us,” Rozow said of the commission owning land for development. “We’ve never had that luxury before.”
