(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Dearborn County leaders will commemorate the start of construction on the expansion of the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center Wednesday.
The groundbreaking will be at 4:00 p.m. at the project site on West High Street in downtown Lawrenceburg. The public is welcome.
The $11.5 million project will nearly double the number of beds at the jail to 424. It is expected to be completed in mid-2014.
In related news, installation of a new sanitary sewer connection caused a closure of West High Street at the project site on Tuesday. Construction manager Maxwell Construction says unforeseen conditions during the installation will require West High Street to be closed again on Monday, July 8 so crews can complete the work.
A map of the detours, which will be well-marked with signs in the vicinity of the project, can be seen here.
