(Patriot, Ind.) – In fables, a fox is often presented as a sly, clever creature.
However, one of the animals in Switzerland County appears unable to help itself out of a possible life-threatening situation.
Patriot resident Jeremy Papucci said he found a fox on his property Tuesday. During what is normally an opportunity to pause and appreciate the nocturnal animal’s beauty, Jeremy became concerned when he saw a plastic jar stuck on the fox’s head.
“I’m worried it might die of dehydration, especially in this heat,” Papucci said.
The video to the right gives a quick glimpse of the critter’s plight, provided by Papucci.
Pappuci has spent most of the afternoon tracking the fox through woods surrounding his home, trying to capture it and remove the jar.
He first sought help from local animal control and natural resources departments, but they did not respond to his request. According to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources website, people finding an injured or sick wild animal should call a licensed wildlife rehabilitator, a veterinarian, or the DNR.
Papucci is now requesting help from anyone who can help track and capture the animal, then safely remove the jar. He can be contacted at (812) 577-6495.
