(Brookville, Ind.) – A creepy, crawly passenger is being blamed for a crash that sent two people to the hospital Saturday afternoon.
According to a Franklin County Sheriff’s Department news release, Sandra Rivera, of Indianapolis, was driving a 2003 Chrysler Town and Country minivan through the parking lot at Mounds Beach State Park, a popular summer attraction at Brookville Reservoir.
Rivera told deputies she had been distracted by a spider in the van when she struck two pedestrians: Manuel Tapia, 28, and Novma Gonzales, 31, both of Indianapolis.
Tapia and Gonzales were transported to the hospital for injuries to their legs. Their current conditions are not known.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Division, Blooming Grove Fire Department, and Franklin County EMS.
