Hamilton County Sheriff's Office
(Indianapolis, Ind.) – Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters says he’ll seek the death penalty against a man accused in the murder of a pizza restaurant owner.
Deters made that announcement Thursday, the day after John Deloney, 27, turned himself into police in Indianapolis. The prosecutor plans to present the case to a Hamilton County Grand Jury on Friday.
Deloney, of Cincinnati, allegedly shot Richard Evans to death when holding up Evans’ pizza parlor, Cosmic Pizza, in Hartwell last Saturday.
Deloney had bonded out of jail in Dearborn County just seven days before the murder. He had been held on charges of Fraud, Forgery, and Conspiracy to Commit Forgery for allegedly stealing a credit card from a patron at Hollywood Casino in April.
