(Dearborn County, Ind.) – If rides, fried food, live music, or even the occasional goat are your thing, you may want to head to the 2013 Dearborn County 4-H and Community Fair.
The annual fair begins Monday, June 17 and runs through Saturday, June 22 at the fairgrounds in Lawrenceburg. This year’s fair theme is “Live, learn, grow 4-H.”
Fairgoers can catch the fair’s opening ceremony Monday at 5:00 p.m. Other opening night festivities include 4-H exhibits at Agner Hall from 6:30-10:00, a frog jumping contest at 6:00, the Dearborn County Fair Queen Pageant at 7:30, and live music by Dallas Moore starting at 9:00.
The popular baby contest takes place Wednesday, June 19 at 5:30 p.m.
The $1,500 Dearborn County Senior Idol talent contest begins with semi-finals on Friday, June 21 at 7:00. The finalists will advance to the finals on Saturday following the Dearborn County Junior Idol contest, which starts at 7:00.
Saturday’s schedule also includes the introduction of Mud Mania, a series of muddy competitions including volleyball, tog-o-war, scavenger hunt, and hog round-up.
Some attractions will appear multiple times, such as the Bear Hollow Wood Carvers Monday through Wednesday with three shows nightly. The Wild World of Animals Education Show is nightly Monday through Saturday. The Indiana National Guard will have a display Tuesday through Saturday.
Admission to the fair on Monday is $6 per person, but the price increases to $8 Tuesday through Saturday. The price includes access to all grandstand events, rides, entertainment, and more. There are also up to $300 in door prizes given to visitors each night.
