(Florence, Ky.) – Aircare was called to a crash on Dixie Highway near Florence Tuesday night.
The single-vehicle crash into a utility pole happened in the 10000 block of U.S. 25-Dixie Highway at about 11:30 p.m. Firefighters had to wait until electricity was shut off before they could extricate the drive from the wreckage because of power lines lying on the 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe.
The driver, Michael Bowmer, 24, of Florence, was flown to University Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati. His status Wednesday is not known.
The crash shut down Dixie Highway and knocked out power in the area for about two hours.
The collision is still under investigation by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office. There are no preliminary indicators at this time.
