(Undated) - Not as many fatal crashes are happening on Kentucky highways this year.
Kentucky State Police say through last Sunday, 251 people have lost their lives on Kentucky roads in 2013. That's 79 fewer than during the same period a year ago.
Forty-seven fatalities occurred in crashes which were suspected to involve alcohol.
Ninety-nine of this year’s 201 victims in passenger vehicles were not wearing seat belts. Of 31 fatalities involving motorcycles, 21 of the victims were not wearing helmets.
Troopers reported that 16 pedestrians have been killed by vehicles this year. There has been one fatality involving an animal-drawn vehicle.
