(Hamilton County, Oh.) - Hamilton County first responders will only be practicing when they act as though they are responding to a disaster Wednesday.
The Hamilton County Mass Casualty Incident Response Drill takes place at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds starting at approximately 9:00 a.m. The episode will serve as a test of the county’s new mass casualty incident response plan.
The scenario includes 300 volunteers acting as the injured or killed victims. Emergency crews from all around the county will be responding to the fairgrounds with lights and sirens blaring, as though it were a real disaster.
The drill will exhibit unsurpassed collaboration between Hamilton County and City of Cincinnati public safety agencies. The groups participating include fire departments, hospitals, emergency management agencies, HazMat, even the Salvation Army and others.
The drill is expected to last until about 1:00 p.m.
