(Waynesville, Ind.) - Three days since four people were found murdered in a Waynesville, Indiana home, there are still no arrests.
On Saturday evening, Katheryn Burton, her husband Thomas Smith, and friends Aaron Cross and Shawn Burton were found shot to death in Katheryn’s home about 10 miles south of Columbus.
Bartholomew County Sheriff Mark Gorbett provided an update on the case Tuesday. He said methamphetamine was found in the home and that investigators do consider the murders to be drug related.
Investigators have recovered a number of bullet shell casings and a knife they believe were used in the attack. The Bartholomew County Coroner has determined that each of the four victims was shot multiple times. Katheryn Burton was also stabbed.
Katheryn Burton’s 27-year-old son was the person who notified police after returning home from work Saturday about 10:30 p.m. and discovering the bodies. Police say he is not considered a suspect in the case.
