(Verona, Ky.) – Police in Boone County are searching for the person who crashed a vehicle into a creek.
A 1996 Ford Probe was found in the creek on the 15000 block of U.S. 42 in Verona Monday morning. It is not clear exactly how long the car was in the creek before a passerby noticed it at about 5:00 a.m.
Police arrived at the crash scene to find the driver side door of the wrecked vehicle was open, but nobody was present.
“It appears as though the car was headed westbound on U.S. 42 before leaving the roadway and ending up overturned in the creek,” said Boone County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Tom Scheben.
Boone County deputies contacted the registered vehicle owner in Corinth, Kentucky, who then realized their car was missing. Sheriff’s deputies are still working to locate and identify the driver, Scheben said.
