(Rising Sun, Ind.) – A local car dealer is helping out a local school by donating a new driver education car.
Lawrenceburg Chevrolet in Greendale donated a new 2013 Chevrolet Cruze to Rising Sun High School. Steve Walton, Marketing Director of the Lorinn Williams Automotive Group, delivered the vehicle Wednesday.
“We feel that our schools are the heart of our communities and we want to be a part of it,” Walton said.
Rising Sun-Ohio County Schools Superintendent Steve Patz said the donation will help save money for the parents of future driver ed. students. The donation will replace the school’s old driver ed. vehicle which has more than 150,000 miles on it.
“It’ll be nice to put the kids in a new car,” Patz said. “I’m excited and I know the kids are even more excited.”
Rising Sun Mayor Branden Roeder, who is a teacher and also instructs drivers education, expressed his gratitude for the donation.
This won't be the last gesture from Lawrenceburg Chevrolet towards local schools. The dealership plans to donated another driver education car to Lawrenceburg High School this week. It will also be a Cruze, Walton said.
