May 2 is the National Day of Prayer. The annual holiday on the first Thursday in May was formalized by Congress in 1952.
Churches across southeast Indiana are organizing prayer services. The Churches of Ohio County are coming together for a service on the steps of Rising Sun City Hall at 12:15 p.m.
There is another at the Dearborn County Courthouse War Memorial in Lawrenceburg beginning at noon.
The Aurora Church Association will gather at Lesko Park at 7:00 p.m. Those attending are asked to bring lawn chairs.
All the services are, of course, open to the public.
