The Ripley County Sheriff's Office has released more information on a crash on County Road 300 North near Milan Wednesday morning, May 1.
The driver of a silver 2006 Chevrolet passenger car was Brittany Kalkbrenner, 29, of Versailles, who swerved to miss an unknown animal in the roadway.
Kalkbrenner ran off the road, lost control, and hit a small tree. Kalkbrenner was not wearing a seatbelt and incurred lacerations to the head and arms. UC's Aircare transported her by air for her injuries.
Kalkbrenner's nine-year-old son, who was a front seat passenger, was wearing his seat belt and only received minor injuries. Her son was not transported.
Also assisting Deputy AJ Smith at the scene were other deputies from the sheriff's office, Milan Fire, and Ripley County Medic.
The crash is still under investigation.

Dispatchers advise that the accident scene on County Road 300 North near Milan has been cleared. The road has reopened to traffic.
The accident is under investigation by the Ripley County Sheriff's Office.

(Milan, Ind.) - Ripley County first responders are on the scene of a crash near Milan.
The single-vehicle accident was reported on County Road 300 North just west of town at about 5:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Dispatchers say an aircare helicopter has been called to the scene. It is unclear how many people were injured.
