Boone County Sheriff's Office
(Erlanger, Ky.) - A motorist who happened to witness a police chase on Interstate 275 in Boone County is being credited with capturing the suspect.
A deputy stopped a car driven by Dennis Mobley, 41 of Burlington, on the interstate in Erlanger about 5:40 Wednesday evening. Mobley allegedly provided the deputy with false information concerning his identity, but the name he used came back with an active arrest warrant issued to it.
When the deputy asked Mobley to get out of his car, he took off running across the interstate.
That’s when Brandon Black, 38, of Hebron, saw what was happening. He stopped his car on the side of the interstate and tackled the runner, holding him until deputies caught up.
Deputies say Mobley was wanted for a parole violation warrant. He now faces additional charges of Giving officer false name, Fleeing or evading 1st degree, Resisting arrest, Possession of controlled substance 1st degree, Possession of drug paraphernalia, and two counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st degree.
“Thanks to Brandon Black, Mobley is a resident of the Boone County Detention Center,” said Boone County Sheriff’s spokesman Tom Scheben.
