Boone County Sheriff's Office
(Hebron, Ky.) - Some people have no shame, as evidenced by a brazen theft in Boone County.
The Boone County Sheriff’s Office is seeking two men who took a donation jar from the Speedway gas station on Northbend Road in Hebron. The duo entered the store on Sunday morning about 10:41 a.m. and smuggled out the jar for the Children’s Miracle Network.
“Surveillance stills show one of the men, dressed in what appears to be a dark green hoodie, a black tee, and short hair distract the clerk while his accomplice dressed in what appears to be a plaid, flannel over shirt or coat, beard, and ball cap remove the jar from the counter and slide it up under the flannel shirt. Then both men left, the man in the hoodie walked behind the other as to conceal any bulge,” said Boone County Sheriff’s spokesman Tom Scheben.
But the thieves didn’t stop there. They returned about an hour later and swiped a second charity donation jar. It also contained donations for the Children’s Miracle Network.
“It worked so well the first time they came back less than an hour later and stole the other jar. Store personnel recognized both men as regulars on second shift but haven’t been able to identify them or their vehicle to date,” Scheben said.
Investigators are asking for anyone who might recognize these two to call the Boone County Sheriff’s Office at (859) 334-2175 or Crime Stoppers at (513) 352-3040.
