Four of these East Central High School students will represent the school at the Busienss Professionals of America National Leadership Conference in Orlando May 8-12.
(St. Leon, Ind.) - The East Central High School Business Professionals of America Club traveled to Indianapolis, Indiana for the State Leadership Conference. Brittany Begley competed in the Desktop Publishing and Document Formatting competitions. Hannah Patton competed in the Accounting II competition. A.J. Waltz placed sixth in Entrepreneurship and Lucas Gramman placed 5th in Financial Math and Analysis.
Danielle McClure and Jake Griffin placed 2nd in the Broadcast Production Team contest and will advance to the National Leadership Conference (NLC) where they will join over 5,000 other conference delegates from across the nation. Jesse Hamilton, Tyler Seiwert and Payton Stonefield placed third in the state for their Global Marketing competition and will also be competing at the National Leadership Conference. The NLC will be held in Orlando, Florida on May 8-12, 2013. This is the first time that our school has qualified for the National Competition. At the NLC our students will attend professional development workshops, serve as conference interns, and have the opportunity to visit Disneyworld.
“Participation in BPA has been an incredible experience and one I believe everyone should consider,” Senior, Jake Griffin said. “This was my first year participating and it has helped me realize that business is a unique skill of mine and something that I genuinely plan to pursue in the future.”

Participation in BPA is an experience all business students should participate in to learn about leadership, competition, skills, and themselves. Competencies highlighted through BPA are all 21st Century skills. Students receivescholarships and opportunities that are highly favored by universities and employers,” said Kelly Pettit, BPA Advisor and business teacher at E.C.H.S.

The costs associated with National Competition are quite excessive (approximately $3,900). This money has to be raised in a very short window of time.
