David Ochs' body was recovered from Hogan Creek near Aurora on Sunday.
(Aurora, Ind.) - The body of a missing man has been located in a Dearborn County creek.
David Ochs, of Aurora, had been missing since his pickup truck plunged into Hogan Creek nearly a month ago on March 13.
Family members say that the 39-year-old’s body was recovered from the creek on Sunday afternoon. A report of a body in the creek off the 5100 block on North Hogan Road was made at about 11:45 a.m. Sunday.
Relatives and Dearborn County Water Rescue have spent many of the days since Ochs went missing searching the creek.
Following the discovery of Ochs’ truck in the creek, Dearborn County Sheriff Mike Krienhop said investigators believed the truck went off of North Hogan Road and into the creek on accident. There were no skid marks near where the truck went off the road and down a steep embankment.
Kreinhop said there was damage to the windshield, which may indicate that Ochs hit his head on the windshield as his truck plunged into the water.
Investigators believe Ochs’ dog was riding with him at the time of the crash. The dog was found wandering near the creek and wet when the truck was discovered in the water.
