A semi truck overturned on Richwood Road near Walton Thursday morning, shutting down the road.
The accident on the 1400 block of Richwood Road occurred at about 7:10 a.m. Boone County Sheriff’s deputies say the driver, Cisse Kane, 53 of Cincinnati, Ohio, was westbound in a Freightliner truck leased by C&K Industrial out of Cincinnati when he went off the right side of the roadway.
Kane traveled 171 feet before bringing the rig back onto the road but over corrected causing it to cross over into the oncoming eastbound lane. The truck then went off the road and struck a tree causing the tank to be separated from the truck frame.
Kane, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was trapped in the truck. Emergency crews freed him and he was taken to University Hospital with reported non life-threatening injuries.
Richwood Road was still closed as of 10:00 a.m. and will remain closed indefinitely as the scene is investigated by the sheriff’s office and cleared.
