(Ripley County, Ind.) - A driver who tried to evade police got not only himself arrested, but also the owner of the car who was not even with him during the pursuit.
On Tuesday, an Indiana State Police trooper tried to stop a vehicle for speeding at 86 MPH in a 55 MPH zone U.S. 421 near County Road 1050 South in Ripley County.
As the trooper turned to stop the vehicle, the alleged driver – Dusty Collins, 30, of Madison – sped off. Collins turned East on County Road 1050 South, then South on County Road 450 West. A short distance later, the trooper saw him enter a driveway and pull the vehicle into a barn.
Collins was soon found inside the barn and taken into custody without further incident. He’s been charged with Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle (Class D Felony).
The woman who lived at the residence with the barn was also the registered owner of the car. Troopers took Stephanie McDonald, 23, into custody for a warrant out of Ripley County for Possession of Marijuana.
Both Collins and McDonald were transported to the Ripley County Jail.
