Volunteers unloading a load of donations from Christmas Bags for Haiti. christmasbagsforhaiti.com |
A huge, week-long yard sale on U.S. 421 in Versailles, just about a mile south of U.S. 50, will benefit children in Haiti.
The yard sale begins Monday and runs through Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day.
All of the money raised will go towards Christmas Bags for Haiti. The non-profit will use the funds to purchase and assemble bags full of toys, candy, coloring books, toothbrushes and more which will then be flown to Haiti.
Organizer Mary Gutman says last year’s yard sale raised $2,200 - enough to send 450 bags to the impoverished island nation which has since seen its capital city, Port-Au-Prince, leveled by an earthquake.
Gutman’s goal this year is to raise enough to send 600 bags.
You can donate items to the yard sale - or just donate money – call Mary Gutman at (812) 689-5769.
