The accident on State Road 56 at McCreary's Ridge Road in Switzerland County on Wednesday, March 20.
(Switzerland County, Ind.) - Two drivers were injured in a crash on State Road 56 in Switzerland County Wednesday afternoon.
Sheriff Roy Leap says a red Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck driven by James Welch and a red Pontiac Grand Am driven by Ashley Works collided on SR 56 at the intersection of McCreary’s Ridge Road, about a half mile south of East Enterprise, about 3:24 p.m.
Works, 19, of Bennington, was reported unresponsive inside her vehicle. She was transported to University Hospital by PHI air ambulance for treatment of her injuries.
As of Thursday morning, Works was listed in critical condition, the sheriff said.
Welch, 76, also of Bennington, was transported to Dearborn County Hospital by Switzerland County EMS for treatment of his injuries. He was later released.
The accident remains under investigation by the Switzerland County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff said updates would be released as they become available.
