(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Indiana State Police arrested three men for possessing heroin following a traffic stop Thursday night in Lawrenceburg.
A trooper stopped a 2000 Dodge Neon at U.S. 50 and Arch St. in Lawrenceburg for a traffic violation. While speaking with the driver, Matthew P. Redd, 26, of Madison, the trooper noticed the smell of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle.
Redd and his two passengers – Derek A. Wood, 22, of Bedford, Ky., and Justin C. Jones, 25, of Lexington, Ind. – were asked to exit the vehicle.
A subsequent search revealed heroin, a hypodermic syringe, and other articles commonly associated with the use of heroin.
All three men were taken into custody without incident and transported to Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center. They are each charged with Possession of a Schedule I Narcotic (Heroin). Redd is also charged with Maintaining a Common Nuisance while Wood and Jones face an additional charge of Visiting a Common Nuisance.
