(Aurora, Ind.) - A fatal crash on State Road 56 in Aurora last year has resulted in criminal charges against one of the drivers.
Last week, a Dearborn County Grand Jury indicted Shawn Horstman, 39, of Rising Sun, on felony charges of Reckless Homicide and Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon. Both charges are Class C felonies punishable by up to eight years in prison.
Horstman was driving on State Road 56 near Lesko Park in Aurora last October 31 when his vehicle allegedly crossed the center line and hit another vehicle head on. The other driver, 78-year-old Billy Wainscott of Ohio County, died at the scene. Hortsman was seriously injured but has since recovered.
Horstman was arrested Friday, March 1 following the indictment. He was released from jail on Monday after posting a $1,000 cash bond.
