(Ripley County, Ind.) - Five people have been cited for underage drinking at a local American Legion.
Just before midnight on Friday, March 1, Batesville EMS was called to the Prell Bland American Legion Post located just outside of Batesville, where a birthday party had rented out the hall. A 19-year-old female had a medical issue and was transported to Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville.
Police were then notified of the party.
Four adults ages 18 to 20 and a 16-year-old juvenile were cited, Ripley County Sheriff Tom Grills told the Batesville Herald-Tribune. Breath tests showed the five minors had consumed alcohol, however, they all were released because they had not drank enough to be considered intoxicated.
Two people responsible for the birthday party fled as police arrived. Grills said those two individuals are being investigated for contributing to the delinquency of minors.
