(Franklin County, Ind.) - A quarter-pound of marijuana was found during a traffic stop in Franklin County last week.
A sheriff’s deputy stopped a car on Buena Vista Road in Laurel the evening of Monday, February 25.
A Franklin County Sheriff's Department K9, Lito, was used to conduct an open air sniff around the vehicle. The dog indicated there may be drugs in the vehicle, so police conducted a search. They found close to a quarter pound of pot on 20-year-old passenger Calvin Lewis.
Lewis, of Glenwood, was arrested for felony Possession of Marijuana and is held at the Franklin County Jail on a $5,000 cash and surety bond or $10,000 property bond.
Deputies allowed the driver of the vehicle, Samantha Richardson, 22, of Laurel, and a three-year-old child to be released at the scene. Richardson was given a written warning for an equipment violation with her vehicle.
The sheriff’s department noted that the case remains under investigation and more arrests could follow.
