(Walton, Ky.) - Four people were transported to the hospital after a late night apartment fire in southern Boone County.

Two of the victims in the fire at the fire on Kuchle Drive were reported to be children.

Firefighters were called to the scene at about 11:30 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the apartment building.

Eight families living in the building have been displaced. The American Red Cross is assisting them.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire.
