(Sunman, Ind.) – Drugs were found in a wanted woman’s car in Ripley County Monday.
A Ripley County Sheriff’s deputy stopped a vehicle on Meridian Street in Sunman about 8:43 p.m. for a minor traffic violation.
The driver, Shelby D. Lingle Batta, 22, was arrested for an outstanding warrant for Failure to Appear for trial on Possession of Marijuana from Bartholomew County, Indiana.
At the request of Deputy Arron Smith, Milan Deputy Marshal Terry Wilson responded to the scene of the traffic stop with his K9 partner Kory. The police dog alerted on Batta’s vehicle resulting in the seizure of controlled substances.
Batta was transported to the Ripley County Jail where she was incarcerated on the outstanding arrest warrant. She is also likely to face new charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance in Ripley County. Those potential charges were forwarded to the Ripley County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
