(Whitewater Township, Oh.) - Authorities believe alcohol played a part in a crash in Whitewater Township Saturday night that left a teenager dead.

Joseph Rich

Joseph Rich, 22, of Harrison

Hamilton County

Sheriff's Office

Police say 19-year-old Kayla Webb, of Harrison, had been riding in the 1995 Honda Del Sol that 22-year-old Joseph Rich, also of Harrison, was driving in the 6700 block of Kilby Road.

Rich had allegedly been drinking before the crash shortly before 11:00 p.m.  Rich was heading north on Kilby Road when he lost control of the vehicle while going around a curve, crossed the center line and was struck by a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by 66-year-old Lawrence Masminster, of North Bend.

Webb died at the scene of the crash. She and Rich were both not wearing seatbelts say accident investigators.

A passenger in the Jeep, 62-year-old Donna Masminster, of North Bend, was transported to University of Cincinnati Hospital. Both Masminsters were buckled up.

Rich has been charged with Aggravated Vehicular Homicide.  He appeared in Hamilton County court on Monday where he was ordered held on $50,000 bond.
