Catfishing Club Treasurer Charged With $8K Theft

(Rising Sun, Ind.) - An Aurora man is accused of taking more than $8,000 from a local organization.

 

Everett Boggs, 51, was the treasurer of the Ohio Valley River Cats Club. Last month, other members of the organization went to police with concerns that Boggs was taking money, according to an affidavit filed in Ohio County Circuit Court.

 

Boggs allegedly admitted to taking $3,000 from the River Cats Club, but further investigation showed he had taken more than $8,000 dating back to 2008. The thefts occurred in check and debit card transactions ranging from as little as $41 up to $750.

 

Boggs has been charged with 21 counts of Theft. According to Switzerland County Jail officials, he has not been booked into jail since charges were filed on February 4.
