Curtis andRhonda Sharon Carroll County Jail |
(Carroll County, Ky.) - A man who believed he was owed more money for repair work he did was arrested after he broke into another man’s home and beat him with a large wooden stick.
Curtis W. Sharon, 46, of Sparta, worked on a piece of equipment for Thomas D. Mayberry. Sharon was paid approximately $1,200 for the work, but claimed Mayberry owed him more money.
Mayberry was at his home at 1802 Bucks Run Road, Ghent, on the evening of February 9 when Sharon arrived. Mayberry was watching TV but went to the door when he heard a truck enter the driveway. He saw Sharon and locked the door to prevent him from entering the home. Sharon broke down the door and began striking Mayberry with the large wooden stick.
Mayberry was able to wrestle Sharon to the ground and attempt to subdue him after Sharon lost his balance. Mayberry then picked up an axe that was inside his home to defend himself, but he did not use the axe. Shortly thereafter Sharon’s wife, Rhonda, ran through the door toward Mayberry. The Sharons then left the home.
Carroll County Deputy Sheriff Clay Cable responded to Mayberry’s 911 call that he was assaulted. Mayberry identified the Sharons as the attackers. Mayberry suffered a fractured elbow in the assault.
The Sharons were arrested on February 13 after a brief interview at their Gallatin County home.
Curt Sharon was charged with burglary second degree and assault second degree, both Class C felonies. Rhonda Sharon was charged with burglary second degree, a Class C felony and assault fourth degree, a Class A misdemeanor. They were lodged in the Carroll County Detention Center.
