(Erlanger, Ky.) - Police are searching for a suspect who held up an Erlanger restaurant at gunpoint Monday night.
The robber forced his way through a back door at the Frisch's on Dixie Highway around midnight. The robber, armed with a gun, took an undisclosed amount of cash and other items from the restaurant manager and another employee.
SWAT officers were called to the scene with the suspect believed to still be inside the restaurant. A cell phone taken during the robbery was still pinging in the area. The SWAT situation ended when it became apparent the suspect had fled the scene prior to police arriving and ditched the phone nearby.
Erlanger Police said that at no time was the suspect barricaded in the restaurant. No employees were held after police arrived, nor were officers ever in communication with the suspect. Nobody was hurt during the robbery.
The gunman was described as a black, heavyset male. He was wearing a red shirt, black tie, dark jacket and a white scarf.
Anyone with information that can lead police to the suspect is asked to call the Erlanger Police Department, (859) 727-2424.
