(Walton, Ky.) – More than 30 animals died in a barn fire in Walton Monday morning.

The fire was reported about 6:30 on the 400 block of Jones Road in southern Kenton County.

The farmer was able to get about 100 animals out of the burning barn, but approximately 35 other sheep and goats inside did not make it out.

Some farm equipment was also destroyed. The barn appeared to be a complete loss.

 A cause of the fire remains under investigation.
