(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - A man who pointed a gun at a pregnant woman’s belly has been sentenced.

Lucas Carr was charged with Intimidation with a Deadly Weapon and Criminal Recklessness in December of 2011.

According to a court document, Carr’s pregnant girlfriend caught him trying to give his phone number to a waitress at Steak ‘N’ Shake in Lawrenceburg that December 2.

An argument ensued as the couple drove back to Carr’s home on Elam Road in Sunman. The verbal fight escalated when the girlfriend said she was leaving and went into the home to grab her belongings and left her two children in the running car.

Carr fetched a .22 caliber revolver from his mattress. He stuck the firearm up to the victim’s stomach in which the unborn child was growing. He also threatened to shoot out the windshield of the victim’s car, where the other children were still sitting inside.

During later questioning by sheriff’s deputies, Carr admitted to pointing the firearm at the victim.

Carr reached a plea agreement with Dearborn County prosecutors on January 18, pleading guilty to both charges.

Dearborn Circuit Court Judge James D. Humphrey sentenced Carr to one year and four months in jail, with credit for 388 days served in jail and on in-home detention prior to trial. He’ll serve four years and eight months on probation when he’s released from jail.

Carr is also to have no contact with the female victim or her family.
