(Florence, Ky.) – Imagine that. A local sports team is making up some publicity.
That’s what many believe Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o did in questioning whether or not he knew his online girlfriend was actually a hoax. The story has been making national sports headlines.
The Florence Freedom minor league baseball team announced Thursday that they have designated their May 23 home game as "Manti Te'o Girlfriend Bobblehead Night."
"This will be the best kind of bobblehead a fan could get," Freedom General Manager Josh Anderson said. "Because now fans can make the bobblehead out to be whatever they want it to be."
The kicker is that the first 1,000 fans to the game will be given a box with nothing in it.
In taking the joke a bit further, the Freedom will also reserve an entire section of the ballpark that night for people with imaginary friends. There will also be an invisible friend kiss cam, air guitar contest and an imaginary food fight in the kids zone at UC Health Stadium.
