(Verona, Ky.) - A serious accident between a compact car and a dump truck occurred in southern Boone County Monday.
The two vehicles side-swiped on the 15000 block of U.S. 42 near South Fork Church Road in Verona at about 2:25 p.m. The driver of the car, a 2008 Toyota Yaris, was ejected and had to be taken to the hospital by aircare. That male driver who has not been identified reportedly suffered life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Mack dump truck, Michael Utz, 51, of Burlington, was not injured.
Deputies said initial indicators are that the Yaris traveled left-of-center. The accident does remain under investigation by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Unit.
