Ripley County Sheriff's Office

(Napoleon, Ind.) – Detectives in Ripley County are wondering who owned a tool used in a recent burglary in Napoleon.

The Ripley County Sheriff's Office is investigating a burglary that occurred on Sunday, January 6 at approximately 10:55 p.m. at the Youngman's Marathon gas station in Napoleon. A Norlund hatchet was recovered from the scene.

Investigators say the small axe is unique in the manner that it is an older tool and collectible. They think the tool is from the Napoleon area.

The owner marked it with fluorescent orange paint and it is believed the owner may be in the habit of marking hand tools in the same manner with the paint for identification purposes.

The owner of the tool or anybody who has information that can help investigators should call the sheriff’s office at (812) 689-5558.
