(Batesville, Ind.) - The first southeast Indiana baby of 2013 is a bouncing boy brought into the world by a Batesville couple.

Kerri McDaniel and Alex Draeving welcomed Jace Riley Draeving  at 12:38 a.m. on New Years Day at Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville.

Delivered by Jeffrey Hatcher, MD, Jace weighed 7 pounds, 9 ounces and was 20 inches long.

With a due date of January 6, Jace was born nearly one week early to be the first baby of 2013.
