Police K9 Tracks Battery Suspect In Ohio Co.

(Ohio County, Ind.) - A local K9 officer is being credited with chasing down a battery suspect.

 

On January 1, Joey Offill fled police on foot from a residence on Hartford Pike in Ohio County, according to the Dearborn-Ohio County Prosecutor’s Office. Lawrenceburg Police K9 Officer Jacob Jump and his dog Newby – who are assigned to the Dearborn County Special Crimes Unit – were called to assist in tracking down Offill.

 

Newby tracked Offill from the through a wooded area and field. The suspect was found hiding in an abandoned shed there.

 

Offill was taken to Dearborn County Hospital to be treated for injuries inflicted by the police dog. He is now held in the Switzerland County Jail on a felony charge of Battery.
