Vevay, Indiana

(Vevay, Ind.) - One local town is celebrating its bicentennial in 2013.

Vevay was established as a town in Switzerland County in 1813. The Ohio River town had been settled about a decade earlier by Swiss immigrants seeking a place to produce wine.

Bicentennial events are planned throughout the year, beginning with the town’s First Friday celebration this Friday, January 4.

A bicentennial bash is planned for October 4-13 at Paul Ogle Riverfront Park.
