(Decatur County, Ind.) - A police chase that ended in a crash in Decatur County last Friday has turned deadly.

Indiana State Police at the Versailles Post say Michael Butler, 14, of North Vernon died from his injuries at Indianapolis hospital at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

Butler was one of five teens who were riding in a stolen Chevrolet Monte Carlo that police tried to stop on State Road 3 about 1:00 a.m. Friday.  The vehicle sped away at speeds near 100 MPH until crashing into farm machinery at the junction with State Road 46 early Friday morning.

Four other teenagers – two 14-year-old girls, a 15-year-old girl, and the 14-year-old male driver - were also hurt. They are all from North Vernon.

Authorities have not released the identity of the driver but have said he was previously on home detention for prior convictions in Jennings County.
