(Grant County, Ky.) - A woman died in a crash on Interstate 75 northbound in Grant County Wednesday, and poor road conditions may be to blame.

Jacob Evans, 29, of Owensboro, was travelling north in a 199 Honda four-door near the 165 mile marker when he lost control at about 12:58 p.m., Kentucky State Police said. The vehicle struck a 2011 Ford Ranger that was parked on the interstate shoulder.

Evans’ wife and passenger, Nora Green, 28, of Corbin, died at the scene.

Evans was transported to Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Florence for his injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck, Danny Marsh, 67, of Boone County, was not in the vehicle at the time of the collision. He had stopped on the shoulder in order to assist with an earlier, unrelated crash, troopers said.

Kentucky State Police are continuing to investigate the fatal crash.
