(Sunman, Ind.) – There is scandal alleged at Sunman’s town hall.

Sunman Clerk-Treasurer Kristina L. Schneider has been charged with Theft and Public Official Misconduct (Class D felonies) following an investigation by the Indiana State Board of Accounts into the illegal use of the town credit cards.

Schneider, 54, allegedly used the credit cards to make several personal purchases totaling over $3,600 between March 2009 and March 2011, according to a probable cause affidavit. She is accused of buying groceries, clothes, and more with the cards.

The affidavit noted that Schneider paid back the $3,600 she had used without permission last May.

Schneider was arrested December 14. She was held in the Ripley County Jail on a $1,050 bond. 

If convicted, Schneider could be removed from office.
