(West Harrison, Ind.) – Usually a 70 MPH zone, westbound Interstate 74 in West Harrison became a parking lot Friday morning.
Steady snow and below-freezing temperatures caused ice to build up on the I-74 bridge over the Whitewater River near West Harrison/Brookville Exit 169. Dearborn County dispatchers said at least eight vehicles became victims to slide-offs.
There was one minor injury reported among the accidents. It was unclear if that person was taken to the hospital.
The westbound lanes of the interstate were closed at about 7:30 a.m. The highway reopened nearly two hours later.
