(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Lawrenceburg’s 10 county regional grant program is being credited for preserving jobs and attracting new ones across southeast Indiana this year.
Each year, the city doles out about $10 million in economic development grants. During Monday’s council meeting, Lawrenceburg Redevelopment Director Grant Hughes said the 2012 grants represent 1,128 jobs and over $286 million in capital projects throughout the region.
The grants already approved by city council and the grant committee this year include:
-MGP Ingredients of Indiana in Lawrenceburg/Greendale for $1,000,000; 70 jobs
-Windstream Tech in North Vernon for $600,000; 32 jobs
-Haag Ford in Greendale for $250,000; nine jobs
-Zimmer Tractor in Lawrenceburg for $500,000; 26 jobs
-Hardintown for $118,536.25
-Proximo Distillers in Lawrenceburg for $850,000
-Dearborn County Economic Development Initiative for $200,000
-Walesboro Airport in Columbus for $25,000
-Indiana Trail Riders in Ripley County for $17,200; six jobs
-Town of Hope for $35,000; eight jobs
-Intrapac in Lawrenceburg for $400,000; 20 jobs
-Solarzentrum in Osgood for $900,000; 140 jobs
Grants that have received approval from the grant review committee, but not yet from council include:
-MBC Group in Brookville for $500,000 ($250,000 in 2012; $250,000 in 2013)
-Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg for $425,000
-Baylor Trucking for $1,000,000; 425 jobs
-Concepts Industrial in Sunman for $300,000; 44 jobs
-Robinson Trucking in Greendale for $500,000; 14 jobs
-Multiple Machine in Dillsboro for $400,000; 24 jobs
-Hautau in Franklin County for $100,000; 30 jobs
-Infrastructure projects in City of Columbus for $124,300; 50 jobs
-Madison Railroad for cities of Madison and North Vernon for $400,000
-Relocation of a business to Jefferson County for $500,000 ($250,000 in 2012; $250,000 in 2013)
-Brookville Redevelopment Commission for $600,000 ($300,000 in 2012; $300,000 in 2013)
-Cummins railroad crossing in Seymour for $750,000 ($375,000 in 2012; $375,000 in 2013)
The remaining grants could receive council approval at a meeting scheduled for Thursday, December 27 at 4:30 p.m.
