(Grant County, Ky.) - A Boone County man died after being struck by a pickup truck Saturday night.

William Bowling, 53, of Union, was walking on Highway 36 in Grant County when he was hit by a pickup truck driven by Sheila Ray, 36, of Williamstown, at about 8:00 p.m.

Bowling was taken to a University Hospital in Cincinnati where he died early Sunday morning.

Police said Ray could not avoid hitting Bowling, who was walking in the middle of the road. There was oncoming traffic, preventing Ray from swerving to miss the victim.

Ray was not under the influence of alcohol, troopers said. The deadly accident remains under investigation.
