(Harrison, Oh.) - Some much-needed upgrades may soon be taking place on State Street in Harrison and West Harrison.
The street straddles the Indiana-Ohio state line, meaning multiple jurisdictions must agree on funding work done on it.
The Harrison Press reports that a major advance in the planned project has been cleared. Harrison City Council recently approved its share of funding for the reconstruction.
Harrison will pay $250,000 of the estimated $1.2 million project. Federal funds will pay for another $509,000 with the Town of West Harrison contributing the remaining $441,000.
Work on State Street between Harrison Avenue and Jamison Road is not expected to begin until mid-2014. A reconstruction of State Street north of Harrison Avenue was completed in 2011.
