(Rising Sun, Ind.) - Electric rates may soon increase for Rising Sun residents.

Rising Sun Municipal Utilities is planning to increase the base rate from a minimum charge of $4.30 a month to $7.50 for residential customers. It would be the first rate hike in the city in more than three decades, the Rising Sun Recorder reports.

A public hearing on the rate increase will be held with Rising Sun City Council on Thursday, January 3 at 7:00 p.m.
