The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department has identified the person killed in an accident on U.S. 421 near the Jefferson Proving Ground Thursday.
A vehicle was northbound on U.S. 421 when it left the road. The driver, Christine A. Hall, 50, of Versailles, appeared to have overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle while trying to get back onto the roadway.
The vehicle rolled several times, coming to a stop in the southbound lane of U.S. 421. Hall was transported to King's Daughters' Hospital and later stat flighted to the University of Louisville, with unknown injuries.
The passenger, Phyllis A. Hall, 71, of Madison, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two family dogs were in the vehicle at the time of the accident. One dog was found deceased at the scene and the second, known as "Marty" was not located. "Marty" is described as a 3-legged shaggy brown dog. If "Marty" is located contact the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office at (812) 265-2648.

(Jefferson County, Ind.) - One person died from injuries sustained in a single-vehicle accident near the Jefferson Proving Ground Thursday.
The vehicle was northbound on U.S. 421 when it left the road, Jefferson County Sheriff John Wallace said.
The driver appeared to have overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle while trying to get back onto the roadway. The vehicle rolled several times, coming to a stop in the southbound lane of U.S. 421.
The unidentified driver was transported to King's Daughters Hospital in Madison with unknown injuries.
The passenger, whose name has also not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene, Wallace said.
Both people in the vehicle were wearing seatbelts, according to Wallace. An investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
