Horseshoe Casino in Cincinnati provided

(Cincinnati, Oh.) – The clock is ticking before major competition for southeast Indiana riverboat casinos opens its doors to the public.

The Ohio Casino Control Commission has granted the Horseshoe Casino in Cincinnati a public opening date of Monday, March 4, 2013. When it opens, the $400 million casino will be the fourth and final casino to open in Ohio under a state constitutional amendment approved by voters in 2009.

A pre-opening controlled demonstration will be held Wednesday, February 27 before the Casino Control Commissioners and staff.

Steve Rosenthal with Rock Gaming and a leader on the casino’s design and construction team, says work at the site in downtown Cincinnati’s Broadway Commons area is in its final stages. Construction began in February of this year.

“We expect final work inside and out to wrap up next month,” said Rosenthal. “To date, more than 2,000 construction workers have contributed to make this development a first-class destination.” 

Casino general manager Kevin Kline said the casino’s recruiting efforts to identify, train and hire about 1,700 new casino workers is on schedule and that several hundred slot machines have already been placed on the gaming floor.

“Our casino operations team is ‘All In’ and will be ready to debut our legendary Horseshoe brand to the Cincinnati community in 82 days,” Kline said.

Kline and his staff are working on partnerships with multiple downtown restaurants and hotels with details to be announced prior to the opening.

“Horseshoe Cincinnati is a huge new addition to Downtown,” said Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory.  “It’s putting thousands of Cincinnatians to work and it will open the door for new business development in the surrounding area.  The casino opening is an exciting way to kick off 2013 in Cincinnati.”
